Vascularized Nerve Bypass Graft: A Case Report of an Additional Treatment for Poor Sensory Recovery

چکیده
End-to-side neurorrhaphy has proven effective in basic research and in clinical application. One of the methods of end-to-side neurorrhaphy, nerve bypass technique, has been reported and axon regeneration has been proven. In clinical application, the utility of the nerve bypass technique has been revealed in some cases; however, these bypasses were performed using nonvascularized nerves. We initially used the vascularized nerve bypass graft technique with the sural nerve as a secondary clinical procedure after median nerve injury in a 61-year-old patient and achieved motor and sensory nerve regeneration, as supported by a nerve conduction study and clinical sensory test. This technique has the potential to become one of the choices for salvage procedure of severe nerve injury.

Promising Technique for Facial Nerve Reconstruction in Extended Parotidectomy
Introduction: Malignant tumors of the parotid gland account scarcely for 5% of all head and neck tumors. Most of these neoplasms have a high tendency for recurrence, local infiltration, perineural extension, and metastasis. Although uncommon, these malignant tumors require complex surgical treatment sometimes involving a total parotidectomy including a complete facial nerve resection. Severe fu...

BACKGROUND Segmental mandibulectomy with bilateral inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) resection results in complete sensory loss in the lower lip and chin. The purpose of this study was for us to report on a bilateral IAN reconstruction with a vascularized nerve graft after chemoradiotherapy during cancer ablation. METHODS The mandible was reconstructed with a fibular osteocutaneous flap that incl...
متن کاملManagement of Catheter Induced Upper Limb Suppurative Thrombophlebitis in a Patient after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: a Case Report
Introduction: One of the important complications of peripheral venous catheters is suppurative thrombophlebitis that would be life threatening without treatment. In this report, we introduce a patient who developed purulent thrombophlebitis due to venous catheter in the upper limb after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Multiple abscess formation was developed on her upper limb after the th...
